"siiiigh," jayden practically breathed allowed, putting his hands up behind his head as he walked. he'd walked all this way to nuvema town from his hometown of accumula, and now he had to walk all the way back. talk about exercise! jayden gave a small laugh, thinking about what his parents would say if he showed up so quickly with his own pokemon. they'd definitely think he was all grown up, that was for sure. sure, he was seventeen, but because he looked younger than he was, his parents always assumed people would try to take advantage of him or some crap. it always bothered jayden when people referred to him as a child, but he'd gotten used to it.
at jayden's feet, chinchou hopped effortlessly beside him. the pokemon glanced up at him with a little smile. "chinchou~" it exclaimed, hopping faster. jayden watched as his pokemon started pulling out past him and grinned a little. "what, you wanna race or something?" he asked, and started jogging alongside chinchou. the two of them made their way along, a little faster than before.
it didn't take too long though for jayden to get a little tired. he finally came to a stop, and chinchou made a soft laughing sound as he turned around to face his trainer. "don't even say anything, chinchou.." jayden said to the pokemon, laughing as he spoke. the boy looked up and caught sight of another trainer (or what he assumed to be one). he waved from a little ways away. "heyyy!" he called, wondering who it was. chinchou hopped in place, its two tentacles glowing faintly as a way of saying hello.

Rain had made a little picnic for herself and her pokemon. She didn't have much pokemon food, but the little Swablu seemed to enjoy what she did have. It chirped happily with each piece it ate. Rain, on the other hand, had a sandwich and some other junk food. Chips and things. Just whatever she'd brought with her. She was trying to save up her money for now until she could actually make some training or fighting gym leaders and whatnot. Cheap stuff for poor trainers. Her parents hadn't helped too much in giving her money; said that if she wanted to be a trainer it meant she'd have to grow up and make her own money. It was true, and in a secret way, Rain was glad they didn't help her much. Just gave her enough to get herself and her pokemon some food and items to start out with, nothing more.
The girl was still traveling around in route 1 because she wanted to find more pokemon. So far, the search hadn't gone too well; mainly because she didn't really want the pokemon she found; she'd rather them live free with their families than catch them just because she could. The grass was soft, as was the dirt where she chose to lay out her blanket. She didn't have much room in her pack, so the blanket was the bulk of what took up the space. In reality, she didn't much know what she should have brought. She didn't want to be carrying 100lbs with her everywhere. She frowned, chewing on her sandwich and looking up into the sky.
Then she heard someone calling. She searched in the direction the voice came from and smiled at the boy she found. No one else was around so he must have been the one yelling. She waved a hand at him. He seemed to be coming from Nuvema Town as well. "Heey! Want to join me?" The dark blue blanket had just enough room for a couple more.

jayden was surprised when the trainer looked over right away. but he beamed when he realized it was girl and her pokemon -- a swablu, it looked like -- and that seemed to be in the middle having a picnic. his stomach practically growled in response as he thought about eating, and how he only had a few things in his bag, since he'd just gotten it. he hadn't really had a chance to get back to accumula town to get some actual food. at least in his hometown, he didn't have to worry about team plasma lurking about.
but nonetheless, he picked chinchou up into his arms and ran over to where the two were sitting on a dark blue blanket. jayden placed chinchou on the ground as they approached, who gleefully hopped over to the other pair before jayden even got there. chinchou's tentacles were still faintly glowing a pale yellow as he smiled up at rain. "chiiiinchou~?"
jayden smiled down at rain as he walked up to the blanket and sat on the edge of it. "hey!" he started, nodding at the girl as he glanced around at what they were eating. he didn't want to take her food or anything, but he was just curious nonetheless. "it's always nice to see another trainer around here. gets a bit quiet sometimes." he said, giving a light shrug. "my name's jayden. and this is chinchou," he introduced, pointing to the blue pokemon. chinchou made a humming sound and jumped over to swablu, lightly waving its fin-like arms.
the boy tilted his head a little at the pokemon food. "i need to get some of that for chinchou soon. where do you get it? i'm kinda new at this," he said, scratching the back of his head as he gave a short laugh.

The boy seemed to have another blue pokemon - of what species she didn't quite know (she wasn't a pokemon maniac after all). She smiled at the two of them as they approached. The pokemon got there first, and it came up to her and gave a greeting. She reached out with a hand and patted the pokemon. "Well you're a cute little pokemon!" she said, smiling. She turned to look at Swablu, the little bird had its feathers ruffled, glaring at the chinchou. She was working on her communication skills a bit. The little blue bird pokemon got jealous easily and was very protective - almost too much so. Rain let out a short laugh, which surprised the swablu.
Rain turned back to the other trainer. "It is, and it definitely does. I hate being alone for too long," she answered. "My name is Rain, and this, of course, is Swablu," she said, motioning to the bird pokemon. It flapped its wings lightly at the chinchou, chirruping happily. Swablu hated being forgotten. Rain offered a hand to the boy. "It's nice to meet you, Jayden."
Rain perked as he asked about the pokemon food. "Well, I don't have too much - my mom makes it as sort of a hobby, so I got to bring it with me. As far as I know you can probably get some from a pokemon center or a store.."
[/color] She brought a finger to her lip in thought, frowning slightly. "I'm not really sure actually.. Heh. Seems like we're off to a good start with out pokemon, huh?" she joked. "I can spare some if you need it," she offered, digging through her bag for the small container. She set her sandwich on the ground and dug deeper, throwing clothing out as she did. "Here it is!" she said, suddenly smiling and showing Jayden a small tuberware container with about a quarter of it full with small brown pellet-looking food pieces. "They don't look like much, but they've got lots of vitamins and healthy things in them that pokemon need as well as anyone!"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

when rain pet chinchou, the pokemon made a little squealing noise, and hopped in place again. that was what chinchou did quite often, jayden noticed. but then again, chinchou had little stubbly legs, so he supposed it was an easier method in contrast to any other method of travel. walking probably took him a long time. but the pokemon seemed happy enough in the presence of someone he didn't even know -- and it made jayden laugh. he sure did get a good one.
jayden nodded at what she said, making himself comfortable on his part of the blanket. he faintly wondered if she minded putting her blanket on top of dirt..but then again, she was already here. he supposed that meant that she didn't care too much about it either way. "same here. even though i have this little guy," he paused to pat chinchou's head, "it's always nice to have some actual human company." he gave a short laugh again, shrugging as he spoke. it was nice that she understood what he was talking about. there were always people who preferred to be alone. but jayden definitely wasn't one of those people.
but the boy took her hand when it was offered and gave it a light shake. "yeah, same," he said, smiling. he watched as swablu chirped and flapped its wings and smiled when chinchou hopped in a circle around her. and then rain was talking about the pokemon food and he gave an absentminded nod. "true..that's awesome that your mom makes it. guess i should check out the store then once we get to the next town." jayden listened to her joke about how they were off to a great start and he had to laugh at how ridiculous they must have looked if anyone else happened to walk by.
"right? training should come with a manual or something!" he replied, chuckling. he watched rain as she rummaged through her bag and blinked when she pulled out a container full of pokemon food. he tilted his head and looked at it, astounded that that was what pokemon ate. "you're right, it doesn't look like much." he grinned, shaking his head as he glanced over at the two pokemon. "you guys are special, that's for sure."

Rain crossed her legs and watched the two pokemon for a moment. They seemed happy together, which was good. While Rain was tired of just being with Swablu all the time, she was sure that Swablu was tired of being with just Rain just as much. Rain smiled. And the Chinchou seemed like it might like a pokemon friend as well. She smiled and nodded at his comment. "Yes. I feel kind of guilty saying it, but I guess people need people around too. And perhaps the same with pokemon and other pokemon." She smiled again at the pokemon, as Swablu flapped itself off the ground a few inches and flew around the chinchou a couple times, chirping madly. Swablu seemed just as happy as the other pokemon.
Rain blushed a bit. "We never really had any pokemon in the city, so she never really had a pokemon to feed it to herself. She mostly just sold it cheap to passing trainers and people. Me and my parents didn't want to keep any pokemon cooped up in our apartment. When I used to live in Nuvema Town before Team Plasma came, I had a rattata," Rain smiled. "It would come and go as it pleased, until it finally never left. It still had a lot of open space to run around at. It was definitely different in Striaton City, though." Rain nodded. "I need more of.. pretty much everything too.." She blushed a bit and stuffed everything she threw out of her bag back in - which was basically just a few changes of clothes, a little pillow, and some personal belongings.
Rain zipped the bag closed. "So, where are you from anyway? Around here?" Rain guessed it would kind of suck to travel from far away just to end up going back again.
